Raising Rabbits
If you are willing to put forth the time and effort raising rabbits can be a fun and rewarding experience. In fact, rabbits are by far my favorite type of animal to raise. In my opinion they are very nice, adorable, loving and remarkably quiet creatures. Rabbits also make very economical pets and even livestock. On top of that bunnies require very little care compared most traditional pets and livestock. You don’t need to spend hours each week cleaning up after them or giving them baths like you would need to for an indoor dog, for example. Rabbits are usually amazingly good about cleaning up after themselves and staying quiet. As long as you periodically clean their cages and living environment they will put off very little odor. In fact just one of my goats put off a stronger odor than all three hundred of my rabbits combined (no offense General).

About Rabbits
One thing that I love about rabbits is the fact that they are such a diverse species. In fact there are over sixty unique breeds of rabbits on our planet! Rabbits are able to survive in many different climates and terrains throughout the world. Natural rabbit habitats range from grasslands to meadows to forests to wetlands to woods and even deserts. Although you will discover rabbits in many different places around the world the majority of the species’ population currently lives on the North American continent (particularly in the United States of America).
Species Classification:
Rabbits have been classified as mammals, particularly in the family Leporidae. The family has been divided up by biologists to include eight distinct generas; Brachylagus, Bunolagus, Nesolagus, Oryctolagus, Pentalagus, Poelagus, Romerolagus and Syvilagus.
